Relief Package for the fishermen held captive in Pakistan

The Prime Minister had announced a one time relief package for the affected families of fishermen in the captivity of Pakistan as on 27-9-2007. The package consists of the following components:
 
 i) One-time ex-gratia amount of Rs. 3 lakh to next of kin of each person held in captivity; and

ii) A grant of Rs. 30,000/- for smaller fishing boats and a grant of Rs. 5 lakh for trawlers to the owner(s) of each seized boat/fishing trawler, based on the type of fishing craft seized.

So far, ex-gratia amounting of Rs. 867 Lakh have been released to the Next of Kin of 289 fishermen as ex-gratia.  Similarly, grant of Rs. 5 lakh each has been released for trawlers to owners of 192 seized boat/fishing trawler.The package stands closed.
