The Prime Minister, in a commemoration message on the anniversary of the Air India flight 182 tragedy, has called upon every one to work to rid the world of terrorism.
On June 23, 1985. Air India Flight 182 left Montreal via London for Delhi. It never reached its destination. The aeroplane exploded and crashed into the Atlantic about two hundred kilometres from the coast of Cork, Ireland. Of the three hundred and-twenty nine persons on board, no one survived.
The Prime Minister in his commemoration message said "today on the eve of the twenty fourth anniversary of that tragic event, as we honour the memory of the innocent victims of this grim tragedy, the best homage we can pay to them is to work earnestly to rid the world of the scourge of terrorism.
On this sad day, my thoughts go out to all those who lost their loved ones in the crash."
