PM Sanctions Rs. 20 crore for NSG Welfare Fund

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has sanctioned a grant of Rs.20 crore out of the National Defence Fund for augmenting the corpus of the National Security Guard Central Welfare Fund. The grant would be invested in fixed deposits by the National Security Guard (NSG). This would enable NSG to carry out welfare activities, including provision of ex-gratia.

The National Security Guard Headquarters had submitted proposals for Ex-gratia amounts to the NSG Commandos who laid down their lives in the Operation Black Tornado taken up against the terrorists at Mumbai in Hotel Oberoi, Nariman House and Hotel Taj from 27th to 29th November, 2008. Request had also been made for financial assistance to the NSG Central Welfare Fund to augment the corpus of the fund.
