PM condoles the demise of Tapan Sinha

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed deep grief on the demise of the noted filmmaker Shri Tapan Sinha.

In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said "I am deeply saddened to know of the passing away of noted filmmaker Shri Tapan Sinha. In his demise India has lost a master storyteller who highlighted the travails of the common man in his works. Shri Sinha's fine portrayal of varied social issues was internationally recognized. Many of his films are considered classics. His work brought him numerous awards including the Dada Saheb Phalke award.

On this sad occasion, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to members of Shri Sinha's family and, his colleagues, friends and countless admirers."
