PM condoles the demise of Manjit Bawa

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has expressed deep grief at the demise of the noted painter, Shri Manjit Bawa. The Prime Minister said that Shri Bawa brought Sufi sensibilities to contemporary Indian art. His depiction of idyllic scenes of love and use of vibrant colours earned for him a special place in the art world. Shri Bawa's contribution to the Indian art will be long remembered.

The Prime Minister extended his condolences to bereaved members of Shri Bawa's family.
