PM meets the Prime Minister of Malaysia in Singapore

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, met the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Singapore today on the sidelines of the 6th ASEAN Summit. The meeting took place in an extremely warm and cordial atmosphere. The Malaysian Prime Minister invited PM to visit Malaysia.

Both leaders reviewed the progress of negotiations on the India-ASEAN FTA and agreed to accelerate efforts to conclude them by March 2008.

Dr. Manmohan Singh welcomed the participation of Malaysian companies in India particularly in infrastructure development. Both sides agreed to increase bilateral trade and economic cooperation as well as investment in each other's country.

It was a useful and productive meeting. The leaders looked forward to meeting once again during the forthcoming CHOGM Summit in Kampala.
