The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will address a National Press conference on Saturday, the 4th Sept 2004, at 5.30 pm at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

After taking over as Prime Minister in may 2004, Dr Singh has received dozens of requests for interviews form Indian international print and electronic media. Given his extremely busy schedule and the fact that during the budget session of Parliament he could not grant media interviews, the Prime Minister was unable to meet all those media persons who had sought individual interviews. Hence, he has decided to convene a joint press conference. It may be recalled that the PM has addressed the Press during his visit to various State capitals as well as during his first visit abroad for the BIMSTEC Conference. He has also met members of the Editors Guild of India for an off-the-record conversation.

The PM's first national press conference will be telecast live on Doordarshan and other TV channels.
