PM undergoes surgery

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh underwent surgery today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The procedure (Trans Urethral Resection of the Prostate gland) was performed to treat Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy of the Prostate (benign enlargement of the prostate gland). The surgery was performed by a team of doctors led by Prof N.P. Gupta, Head of the Department of Urology at AIIMS. The Prime Minister is convalescing after the surgery and has had a stable postoperative course. After two days of rest at AIIMS the Prime Minister will return home on Monday, the 17th September.
