PM assures availability of funds for fertilizer subsidy

The Prime Minister chaired a meeting to review issues pertaining to availability of funds for fertilizer subsidy. The Prime Minister directed the Union Finance Ministry and Fertilizer Ministry to ensure that adequate funds are available to meet the disbursal requirements for fertilizer subsidy. The Prime Minister said that while the existing subsidy system may have to be reviewed in the future, the Government was committed to the present system and will ensure that adequate funds are available to meet the requirements this year. The Prime Minister's Office will resolve matters in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Union Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar,Union Finance Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram, Union Fertilizer Minister Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
