A Chadar was laid at the Durgah of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti at Ajmer today on behalf of the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Shri Prithvi Raj Chavan, laid the Chadar on the holy tomb of the Sufi Saint this morning.
Shri Chavan also read out the message of the Prime Minister at the Buland Darwajah of the Dargah. In his message, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the Dargah of Khwaja Sahib is symbolic of the nation's unity and integration. He said that the teachings of brotherhood of Khwaja Sahib shall continue to light the path of humanity. The huge gathering of devotees from all religions during the Urs reflects the secular character of the country, he said. Wishing success for the Urs, the Prime Minister said that this annual event help spreading the message of fraternity among all religions and communities.
Earlier, the Dargah Khadim, Gani Gurdeji performed the Dastarbandi and handed over a Tabarruk to Shri Prithvi Raj Chavan to be presented to the Prime Minister.
