Reacting to the news of the first ever-silver medal won by an individual Indian sportsperson at the Olympic Games since Independence, the Prime Minister expressed his delight at the feat achieved by Major RVS Rathore today.

Speaking in New Delhi, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that it is not only Major Rathore's many fans, but the entire nation that is delighted by this news. Hailing this feat, the Prime Minister hoped that this achievement would have a positive effect on the culture of sports and physical activity in India. The Prime Minister also exhorted the Indian Olympic contingent to seek inspiration from Major Rathore's feat, to bring glory to the nation.
