Prime Minister condoles Shri Amarsinh Chaudhary's death

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has condoled the death of Shri Amarsinh Chaudhary, Leader of Opposition, in the Gujarat Assembly. In a message, the Prime Minister said:

"It is with profound sadness that I learnt of the demise of Shri Amarsinh Chaudhary, a distinguished leader of the Indian National Congress, and Leader of the Opposition in the Gujarat Assembly. In his death, our country has lost an outstanding leader who made a significant contribution to the development of Gujarat.

Gujarat, one of our most developed States performed particularly well during the tenure of Shri Chaudhary as Chief Minister. I am deeply saddened that Gujarat and the Congress have lost the leadership of Shri Chaudhary at a time when people like him could have taken the State to greater heights. We all recall the contribution of the late Nisha Amarsinh and Shri Chaudhary both of whom were actively associated with progress of Gujarat and the activities of our Party. I extend my sincere condolences to his children who continue to do the good work of their parents, and pray that the soul of the demised person rests in peace".
