PM greets Nation on 400th ann. of martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has greeted fellow countrymen on the solemn occasion of 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev. In a message, the Prime Minister said that Guru Arjan Dev's singular contribution towards compilation of Adi Granth is an immense source of inspiration. On the occasion, Dr. Manmohan Singh recalled the inspiring words of Guru Arjan Dev - "Tera Kiya Metha lage, naam padarath Nanak mange" (whatever you ordain appears sweet. I supplicate for the gift of name). The devotional hymns composed by Guru Arjan Dev are sung with utmost respect and devotion even today. He composed short hymns in simple language that could be easily understood by the masses, Dr. Manmohan Singh added.
