PM condoles demise of noted economist Samar Sen

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief at the demise of noted economist, Samar Sen.

In a message, Dr. Manmohan Singh described Mr. Sen as a pioneer of development planning, who made distinguished contributions to our understanding of managing the processes of agricultural and rural transformation. Later, as Executive Director for India on the board of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and of the World Bank, he made seminal contributions towards giving them a focus on developing countries.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
