PM reviews rehabilitation work in car Nicobar

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, reviewed the rehabilitation work in Car Nicobar islands today. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of a Girls and Boys Hostels at Campbell Bay and the Lapathy Sports Complex in Car Nicobar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the priority of the Government would be to provide permanent shelter, construct houses, schools, restoring livelihoods and communication links providing enhanced medical facilities and providing education to children in the Tsunami-affected islands.

The Prime Minister said that the Government had earmarked Rs. 2, 600 crore to undertake a long-term Tsunami rehabilitation work in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
