PM's letter to Prof. M.C. Puri's family

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has written a letter to Smt. Raksha Puri, W/o, Late Prof. M.C. Puri, who was killed in the attack on the campus of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In his letter to Smt. Puri, the Prime Minister said:

"It is with a deep sense of shock that I learnt about the terrorist attack on the campus of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in which Professor M.C. Puri lost his life. This was a dastardly attack, which was aimed at innocent scientists who work for the benefit of entire mankind and who were engaged in academic work at that moment. A cowardly act of this nature needs to be condemned in the strongest possible manner by all sections of society.

As a fellow academic, I am personally grieved at the loss of Prof. Puri's life. I am aware that this most unexpected incident would have cast a pall of gloom on the family.

I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences at the untimely demise of Prof. Puri and pray that the departed soul may rest in peace".
