PM Condemns killing of Manipur Police Official

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has condemned the dastardly killing of Shri T. Thangthum, IGP (Intelligence), Government of Manipur. Dr. Singh expressed his shock at this cowardly act, and has conveyed his condolences to the family of the officer.

Shri Thangthum belonging to Manipur cadre of IPS, was a resident of Churachandrapur district, Manipur. He was going from Imphal to Bishnupur. One civil truck crossed the carcade and fired upon IGP vehicle at 0925 hrs today at Oinam Bazar, Bishnupur. The IGP and his driver died on the spot. One Head Constable and one Rifleman got injured.
