Committee on Information, Communication and Entertainment set up

The Prime Minister's Office has set up a Committee on Information, Communication and Entertainment to identify new opportunities in these areas, where the Government is expected to play a pro-active role to promote the Indian media and entertainment industry. It will also examine various representations made by the Film and Television Producers Guild of India to the Prime Minister pertaining to commercial, legal, fiscal and other aspects of the status of the media and entertainment industry in the country.

The Committee will be chaired by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. The other members will be - Member Secretary, Planning Commission; Secretary, Information and Broadcasting; Secretary, Telecommunications; Secretary, Information Technology; Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs; Secretary, Commerce; Media Advisor to the Prime Minister; Shri Shekhar Kapur; Shri Kiran Karnik; Shri Sashi Kumar; Shri Ravi Vasudevan and Shri Amit Khanna.
