PM grants special payment of Rs.5 lakh to Ramankutty's family

Considering the extremely tragic circumstances of Maniyappan Ramankutty's death in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has released a payment of Rs 5 lakhs from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to his family. This is in addition to the other payments the bereaved family is receiving from the Central Government and the Border Roads Organization. The payment from the PMNRF is being made to Ramankutty's widow, Ms Bindu and mother, Mrs Mani, each receiving Rs 2.5 lakhs.
