Centre assures all assistance to Tamil Nadu for relief and rescue operations

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, spoke to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. J. Jayalalithaa, in connection with the devastation caused by the rains in the State. He expressed his grief at the loss of so many innocent lives. He offered all possible assistance from the Central Government for the ongoing relief and rescue operations and all possible support for rehabilitation of the affected people and the region.

The Prime Minister also offered an assistance of Rs. 50,000 to each of the families of those who lost their lives in the bus tragedies at two places in the State.
