PM condemns killing of Maniappan Raman Kutty , describes him as solider of peace

The Prime Minister in a message has condemned the killing of Shri Maniappan Raman Kutty and has condoled the bereaved family. The Prime Minister's message reads -

"I am deeply grieved and outraged by the news just received that Shri Maniappan Raman Kutty of our Border Roads Organization has been killed in Afghanistan. Shri Raman Kutty had been working on the Zaranj- Delaram road project in Afghanistan and had been abducted on November 19th by the Taliban.I condemn this cowardly and brutal murder of a brave Indian who was working in the cause of peace and development far from his home country, which reflects the cruel and inhuman character of the Taliban and the forces they represent.

Our prayers are with the family of Shri Maniappan Raman Kutty. I am asking the Ministry of External Affairs and the Defence Ministry to extend all help and assistance to the bereaved family of Shri Maniappan Raman Kutty, who has given his life as a soldier for peace."

Manmohan Singh.
