Prime Minister chairs National Security Council meeting

A meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by the Prime Minister was held here today. It reviewed the National Security Council System. It also took stock of the security reform process initiated in May 2001 in pursuance of the recommendations made by the Group of Ministers, which had been set up to review the National Security System in its entirety. The National Security Council decided that it must meet more frequently and on a regular basis. It was also agreed that the NSC would interact with the National Security Advisory Board regularly on an institutional basis. The NSC also reviewed the status of the Naga peace process.
