Task Force for Development of J&K Constituted

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has set up a high level task force to prepare a long term plan for the social and economic development of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chairman of the task Force is former Reserve Bank Governor, Dr. C. Rangarajan. The other members of the task force are Mr. Haseeb Drabu, Mr. Sunil Mittal, Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Mr. S.H.H.Rehman, Mr. Moosa Raza, Mr. G.C.Srivastava, Mr. T.N.Thakur, and Mr. Analjit Singh. Mr. D.Subbarao will be the Member Secretary.

The task force will prepare a report on an integrated approach to and measures for the long- term economic and social development of Jammu and Kashmir. It will also identify sources of finance - locally, nationally, and globally - to fund the development of Jammu and Kashmir. The Task Force will also analyse issues, economic or otherwise, referred to it by the Prime Minister with respect to the development of J&K.

The Prime Minister has asked the task force to submit an interim report within six months and the final report within one year.
