Prime Minister condoles demise of Yasser Arafat

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has condoled the demise of Palestinian leader, Mr. Yasser Arafat.

In a message, the Prime Minister said:

"I am saddened at the news of the passing away of President Arafat. The people of India admire deeply his heroism and commitment to the cause of his people in their quest for a homeland and a State. The Palestinian people have lost their beloved leader and the people of India share their grief.

We shall always remember President Arafat as a friend and a true patriot."
