Prime Minister condoles death of Dr. Venkatasubramanian

The Prime Minister has expressed grief at the demise of Dr. K. Venkatasubramanian, a former Member of the Planning Commission.

In a condolence message, the Prime Minister described Dr Venakatasubramaniam as a scholar who devoted his life for the cause of education. He had the distinction of starting the 'mid-day meal' scheme in Tamil Nadu in the 1950s under the leadership of Shri K. Kamaraj. He was the founder Vice Chancellor of the Pondicherry Central University. His services as Member of Tamil Nadu Planning Commission and Member of the Planning Commission will always be remembered, Dr. Singh added.
