Lutyens Bungalow Zone guidelines to be enforced strictly

The Government has decided that the guidelines issued in 1988 to preserve the character of the Lutyens Bungalow Zone in Delhi would be strictly enforced by all implementing agencies. This decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, today.

The Ministry of Urban Development will undertake a survey over the next two months to identify any deviations that have taken place and propose remedial action and would also suggest measures to preserve and enhance the character of urban space in this area.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Chief Secretary, Delhi, Vice-Chairman, DDA, Chairperson, NDMC and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

It may be recalled that the 1988 guidelines had prohibited any changes in Lutyens Bungalow Zone without specific clearance of the Prime Minister.
