PM congratulates Nepal Prime Minister elect Baburam Bhattarai

The Prime Minister has congratulated Shri Baburam Bhattarai on his election as the Prime Minister of Nepal. In his message to the Prime Minister elect Shri Baburam Bhattarai, Dr. Manmohan Singh wished him all success in the task of consolidating the democratic gains made by the people of Nepal.

The text of the Prime Minister's message is as follows :

"Please accept my warmest felicitations on your election as the Prime Minister of Nepal. I have great pleasure in conveying to you the best wishes of the Government and people of India in your high responsibilities and all success in the task of consolidating the democratic gains made by the people of Nepal.

India attaches the highest priority to its relations with Nepal. Our relations are special and characterized by intense people-to-people interaction and an open border. India remains committed to providing all assistance in building a more stable, democratic and prosperous Nepal, which will add to the security and prosperity of the region.
