PM condoles the passing away of noted economist Suresh Tendulkar

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has condoled the passing away of noted economist Shri Suresh Tendulkar. The Prime Minister's condolence message to his wife Smt. Sunetra Tendulkar is as follows:

"It is with deep grief that I learnt of the sad demise of your husband, Shri Suresh Tendulkar.

In Suresh's demise, our country has lost one of our most eminent economists. His work on poverty was pathbreaking and will continue to guide and inspire the coming generations of economists.

Suresh's passing away is also a great personal loss to me. He was a very dear friend and a colleague whose advice I valued immensely.

On this occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and to all other members of the family. May God give you the strength to bear with your loss. I pray for the departed soul."
