A clarification - Press note

There have been some speculative and tendentious reports in the media in the recent past suggesting that the Prime Minister has taken direct charge of matters relating to Jammu and Kashmir, the North-Eastern States and the Naxalite-affected regions of the country. These reports are not accurate. All matters pertaining to internal security are dealt with by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Government of India and by the relevant State Governments. There is no change in the extant situation.
