PM condoles demise of P.L. Tandon

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has condoled the demise of the doyen of Indian industry, Shri P.L. Tandon. In a message from New York, the Prime Minister said:

"I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Shri P.L. Tandon yesterday. Shri Tandon was a doyen of Indian industry who made a mark as a captain of industry. He was unique in making contributions both to public sector as well as the private sector. Not only did he contribute to the growth of the State Trading Corporation as a major state trading enterprise but also as the first ever Indian Chairman of Hindustan Lever, he was in the vanguard of the rising presence of Indian professionals in multinational companies.

I send my condolences to the bereaved family and pray that the departed soul may rest in peace."
