PM condoles the passing away of Banka MP Digvijay Singh

The Prime Minister has condoled the passing away of Banka MP and former Union Minister Shri Digvijay Singh. In his condolence message to Srimati Putul Kumari, wife of Shri Digvijay Singh, the Prime Minister described him as a widely respected leader who worked selflessly for the people.

The text of the Prime Minister's message is as follows:

"It is with a deep sense of shock that I learnt of the tragic and untimely demise of your husband, Shri Digvijay Singh.

Shri Digvijay Singh was a widely respected leader who worked selflessly for his country, his State and his people. His three terms in the Lok Sabha and two in the Rajya Sabha bear testimony to his popularity among the people of Bihar. He excelled as a Minister in the Central Government, showing remarkable administrative acumen. A keen sportsman Shri Singh also served as President of the National Rifle Association and Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association.

Shri Digvijay Singh will be remembered for his contribution to our society and our people in a variety of ways.

I pray to God to give you and the other near and dear ones of Shri Digvijay Singh the strength and fortitude to bear with this irreparable loss. I pray for peace of the departed soul."
