PM condoles the passing away of Governor Prabha Rau

The Prime Minister has condoled the passing away of the Governor of Rajasthan Shrimati Prabha Rau. Dr. Manmohan Singh in his message to her daughter Shrimati Sanyogita Morarji, described Governor Rau as an outstanding public figure and an ideal constitutional functionary.

The text of the Prime Minister's condolence message is as follows:

"It is with a deep sense of shock and grief that I learnt of the untimely demise of your mother, Shrimati Prabha Rau, Governor of Rajasthan.

Shrimati Prabha Rau was an outstanding public figure. All her life, she worked for the welfare of the people of our country and of Maharashtra. She was a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly six times and was also a Minister in the Maharashtra Government, and contributed handsomely to the cause of women and children. She was an outstanding parliamentarian and was a member of the 13th Lok Sabha. As Governor of Himachal Pradesh and later of Rajasthan, Shrimati Prabha Rau discharged her responsibilities as an ideal constitutional functionary.
