PM condoles passing away of Shri P.M. Sayeed

Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief at the passing away of Power Minister, Shri P.M.Sayeed. In a message to Mrs. Sayeed, the Prime Minister said,

"It is with a profound sense of grief and loss that I learnt about the sudden and untimely demise of my colleague, Shri P.M. Sayeed in Seoul.

Shri Sayeed was a leader of the highest standing, a person who believed in selfless public service and a person with an innate sense of decency and courtesy. He always strived for the improvement of Lakshadweep and was widely respected and loved for this quality.

His contributions to public life in a wide range of positions will always be remembered and are a testimony to his diverse interests.

He has left an indelible imprint on our national life. It is a personal loss to me as I have lost a friend, an experienced colleague and a wise man.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to all your family members and pray that the departed soul may rest in peace. "
