PM condoles the passing away of Renowned Ghazal Singer Jagjit Singh

The Prime Minister has condoled the passing away of celebrated Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh. In a letter to the late singers wife Mrs. Chitra Singh, The Prime Minister said I count myself among Shri Jagjit Singhs many admirers and we will all miss him and his music.

The text of the Prime Ministers message is as follows:

" I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of your husband, the celebrated Ghazal singer Shri Jagjit Singh.

Shri Jagjit Singh was an extraordinarily gifted music personality. His singing enthralled millions all over the world. He was one of our finest exponents of ghazal music and will be best remembered for the revival, and indeed popularization of the ghazal form in our country. I count myself among Shri Jagjit Singhs innumerable admirers and we will all miss him and his music. His legacy will however live on through the many soul touching ghazals that he sang.

I convey my heartfelt condolences in this hour of bereavement to you, other members of the family and the countless admirers of Shr Jagjit Singhs music."
