PM condoles the passing away of Karnataka leader Rajashekhar Murthy

The Prime Minister has condoled the passing away of the former Union Minister M. Rajashekhar Murthy. Dr. Manmohan Singh in his condolence message to the late leaders daughter Smt.Sudha Murthy said he was an eminent public figure and a prominent leader of Karnataka.

The text of the Prime Ministers message is as follows :

"I was saddened to learn of the passing away of your father Shri M. Rajashekhar Murthy.

Shri Murthy was a well known political figure of Karnataka. He distinguished himself as a Member of the State Legislative Assembly and as a Member of Parliament. He served with distinction both as Finance Minister of Karnataka as well as a Minister in the Union Council of Ministers. In his passing away, the country has lost an eminent public figure and a prominent leader of Karnataka.

On this sad occasion, I convey my deepest condolences to you and other members of the family. I pray for the departed soul. "
