PM condoles Shri Somnath Hore's death

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of Shri Somnath Hore. He was one of the greatest artists and sculptors of our times and a pioneer of modern art of India. He was widely respected within the fratenity of Indian artists both for his social commitments and for his originality of thinking. He spoke out against all manners of social evils and economic exploitation. These concerns reflected themselves in his outstanding creative work.

As someone who inspired generations of artists and social activists, Shri Hore will always be remembered. I convey my sincere condolences to his family, his disciples, his friends and well-wishers and the millions of his admirers around the world. May his soul rest in peace.
