PM condoles the demise of Punjab Minister Capt. Kanwaljit Singh

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has condoled the death of Punjab Minister for Co-operatives, Capt. Kanwaljit Singh and called him an upright politician who worked hard at the grassroot level. The Prime Minister's condolence message to Srimathi Srabjit Kaur is as follows:

"I received with profound grief the news of the tragic passing away of your husband Capt. Kanwaljit Singh in an accident.

Capt. Kanwaljit Singh served the people of the State with distinction for many years not only as an MLA but also in senior Ministerial positions, most recently as the Minister for Co-operatives. He was known as an upright politician who worked hard at the grassroot level.

In his passing away, the State of Punjab has lost a distinguished son who was committed to the development of the State. I pray for the departed soul and convey my heartfelt condolences to you and other members of the family".
