Progress of the Japanese Projects on the Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) reviewed
The Dedicated Freight Corridor and the DMIC along the western leg of the freight corridor are two important projects that were taken up for Japanese support at the instance of the Prime Minister. The Government of Japan has already announced a ODA Loan of 450 billion Yen (Rs. 17,700 crores) for the Western Leg of the Dedicated Freight Corridor. It has also undertaken to support the DMIC that is to come up in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra alongside the freight corridor. A team from the Government of India, including representatives of the State Governments, would visit Japan for talks with the Japanese Government and other potential investors by the month end.
The five 'Early Bird' Projects on the DMIC are:
(i) Integrated India-Japan Enclave (IIJE) in Haryana
(Project Developers - MITSUI & Company Limited)
(ii) Free Trade Warehouse Zone (FTWZ) Project in Greater Noida
(Project Developers - MITSUI & Company Limited)
(iii) Captive Power Plant at Neemrana
(Project Developers - Hitachi & other Japanese Companies)
(iv) Jet Stream Logistics Projects at Neemrana
(Project Developers - NYK Logistics)
(v) DMIC Human Resources Training Project
(Project Developers - Techno Brain Company & Science & Technology Park, Pune)
It may be recollected that the five Early Bird Projects in the DMIC were announced by the Japanese Government during the visit of the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh to Japan in October, 2008.
