PM's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration

The Government of India has decided to introduce "Prime Minister's Awards for excellence in Public Administration" to recognize the extraordinary and innovative work done by the officers of the Central and State Governments.

This Award will recognize outstanding and exemplary performance of civil servants across the country. Their contribution to implementation of schemes and projects, efficiency of public delivery system, tackling corruption, reform of procedures and strengthening of institutions, innovation in dealing with stakeholders' needs and involvement, extraordinary performance in dealing with crisis situations including natural disaster and setting high standards of service and showing leadership qualities will all be assessed in making the selection.

An Expert Committee chaired by the Secretary (Personnel) and five other members, including eminent persons from outside Government, will scrutinize application forms and recommend atleast 25 nominations to an Empowered Committee for final selection.

The Empowered Committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary and including Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and eminent persons from outside Government will scrutinize the nominations and recommend names of awardees.

The eminent persons on both committees will be selected by the Prime Minister. The last date for receiving nominations will be July 31st and Awards will be announced on the subsequent Republic Day.
