PMO reviews issues related to Film & Television Industry

The issues relating to the single window clearances, piracy and copyright, fiscal regime, broadcast regulation and export promotion raised by the Film and Television Producers Guild, were discussed at a meeting in the Prime Minister's Office.

The meeting was informed that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is discussing the details of content regulation with representatives of the industry and will soon come out with a policy. The meeting considered the suggestions of the industry to create a promotional regime to accelerate the growth of the entertainment industry. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will take steps to simplify procedures for filming in India. It was decided to examine together with the Ministry of Commerce the suggestion to set up an Export Promotion Council to increase the export of films, TV programmes and music products from India.
