PM condoles death of Shri Ramanand Sagar

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has expressed shock and grief over the sad demise of noted film and television personality, Shri Ramanand Sagar.

In a condolence message, Dr. Singh said that Shri Ramanand Sagar will be remembered for making a sterling contribution in the fields of culture and entertainment. During his long and illustrious career, he produced and directed high quality films and television serials.

His serial 'Ramayana' was a landmark in the history of Indian television. It attained iconic status by spreading the core values of the great ancient Indian epic to all sections of society, especially to the children and youth.

While providing wholesome entertainment, Shri Ramanand Sagar never lost sight of larger social, spiritual and moral issues, the Prime Minister said.
