PM condoles the death of Dr. Tirlok Singh

Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief at the passing away of former civil servant Dr. Tirlok Singh. In a message to Prof. Jaideep Singh, son of late Dr. Tirlok Singh, the Prime Minister said, "Dr. Tirlok Singh was an eminent civil servant who left a lasting imprint on all areas of governance in this country. His work on the land resettlement and rehabilitation of refugees in Punjab in the aftermath of the partition is legendary and generations of families will be grateful to him. After working as the Private Secretary to Pandit Nehru, he did yeoman service in setting up the Planning Commission. In many ways, this institution owes a lot to the hard work put in by him in its early days.

I convey my heartfelt condolences to you and other family members on this sad occasion and pray that the departed soul rests in peace."
