PM condoles the death of eminent Hindi writer Shri Nirmal Verma

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has condoled the death of eminent Hindi writer, Shri Nirmal Verma. In a message the Prime Minister said:

"I am deeply grieved to learn of the sad demise of Shri Nirmal Verma, a renowned figure in the world of literature in our country and abroad.

Shri Nirmal Verma was one of the most prolific and prominent writers of our time. His artistic and creative talent encompassed several delicate and sensitive aspects of human existence. His writings were rich in symbolism portraying complex patterns of human emotions. It is a measure of his universal appeal that his prose and poetry have been translated into several major languages of the world. Many of his stories pioneered literary movements and inspired generations of readers and writers. In his death the country has lost a remarkable literary personality whose creative quest and humanitarian concern endeared him to millions of his readers.

On this sad occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the members of his bereaved family and the wide circle of his followers and friends. I pray to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul".
