Prithviraj Chavan takes charge as MoS in PMO

Shri Prithviraj Chavan assumed charge as Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office today. He was received by senior officials of the Prime Minister's Office.

Born on March 17, 1946 to Shri D.R. Chavan and Smt. Premlabai Chavan, Shri Prithviraj Chavan is an engineer educated at BITS, Pilani and University of California, Berkeley, USA. Two-time member of the Lok Sabha, Shri Chavan is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha where he was also the member of Committee on Finance and Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Defence.

Shri Chavan has special interest in the computerisation of Indian languages and is an avid follower of cricket, tennis, badminton, table tennis, chess and golf. A voracious reader, Shri Chavan has visited various countries as part of various parliamentary delegations.
