The Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has expressed grief over the demise of the Lt. Governor of Pondicherry Shri K.R. Malkani today. In his condolence message, the Prime Minister said :

~I am filled with grief over the sudden demise of Shri K.R. Malkani, Lt. Governor of Pondicherry, today. In his passing away, our country has lost an eminent nationalist thinker and a dedicated political personality.

I had a long association with Shri Malkani, both in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and later in the Bharatiya Janata Party. He combined his political activism with a lifelong commitment to research-based writing. He will be especially remembered for his book on the history of the national movement in Sind and his advocacy of Hindu-Muslim amity.
