PM condoles the death of Dr. I.G. Patel

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Dr.I.G. Patel. In a message, he said:

"My association with Dr. Patel stretches back several decades and I have always benefited from his clarity of thought and his lucid advice. He made an outstanding contribution to the formulation of India's economic policy in the post-independence era. He was a source of inspiration for all economists working in the Government. In his passing, we have lost an important voice of good sense, practical advice and great learning.

Personally, professionally and as an academic, Dr. Patel left an indelible mark on everybody he met. I join the members of his family in mourning his loss. I shall pray for peace for the departed soul."
