PM condoles the passing away of Justice J.S.Verma

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has condoled the  demise of Justice J.S.Verma  saying that nation has an outstanding exponent of jurisprudence  and the legal profession one of its most experienced and professional members.

The excerpt of the Prime Minister's message is as follows:

"I was deeply grieved to learn about the demise of Justice J.S. Verma last night. In his passing, the nation has lost an outstanding exponent of jurisprudence and the legal profession has lost one of its most experienced and professional members whose views and advice carried great weight.

The nation will remember Justice Verma not only as a great legal mind whose path-breaking verdicts enriched the field of law, but also as a humanist and a public-spirited figure whose judgments were marked for their sensitivity and concern for the common citizen. This was also evident in the herculean effort that he put into the compilation of the recent report on the needed reforms in laws to prevent crime against women. The nation is forever in his debt for this and his many other services."
