"It is with a deep sense of grief that I learnt of the passing away of your husband, Shri Bhajan Lal.

Shri Bhajan Lal, a sitting member of the Lok Sabha, contributed immensely to the process of nation building during his long and distinguished career in public service. He was elected for the first time to the Haryana Assembly in 1968. He was made a Minister in State government of Haryana two years later. Subsequently he rose to become the Chief Minister of Haryana for two terms. He also served as Union Agriculture Minister and the Environment Minister. In all the public positions he held, Shri Bhajan Lal distinguished himself as an able and committed administrator.

In Shri Bhajan Lal's death, we have lost a nationalist and a respected leader, who worked tirelessly for the welfare of Haryana and the country. We have lost a leader who was selflessly devoted to the cause of the poor and the underprivileged.

On this sad occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and to all other near and dear ones of Shri Bhajan Lal. May God give you the strength to bear with this irreparable loss. I pray for peace of the departed soul."
